The Challenge of Jesus

The Center for Spiritual Formation will return to the presention of The Challenge of Jesus, a fascinating DVD series based on the research of the renowned Biblical scholar John Dominic Crossan, on Sunday, February 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Media Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center.

Also, visit the site of the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge for information and registration to hear John Dominic Crossan in person! He will be in Baton Rouge on March 23 and 24, 2012 for lectures on The Power of Parable: Fiction By Jesus Becomes Fiction About Jesus.


Sunday Morning Programs

epiphany.jpgSunday morning gatherings for all ages will resume Sunday, February 5:

Young children and lower elementary-aged children experience the multi-sensory, atrium-based Catechesis of the Good Shepherd on the second floor of the Parish Hall.

Fifth and sixth graders join for The Gap in the Work Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center; middle schoolers will gather in the Parlor to sell Spanish Town Parade Parking Passes - a fund raiser for their summer mission trip.

Grey's Theology is for high schoolers, and meets at 2:00 p.m.

The Challenge of Jesus is a DVD-based program on John Dominic Crossan's work being facilitated by Mtr. Mary Ann Garrett and Dr. Ann Holmes for adults in the Media Room on the first floor of the Ministries Center at 10:00 a.m.

The nursery is professionally staffed and open from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for your infants and toddlers, as you desire or need it. Pagers are available for your peace of mind.


Seniors Celebrate Bicentennial

“Música de España” featuring Alvaro Angulo, cellist, in mini-concert on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at noon in the Parish Hall parlor of St. James Episcopal Church, is free and open to the public.

The optional social hour begins at 11:15 a.m. with a hot lunch, served buffet-style, at 11:30, before the concert. Cost of the meal is $13.00 per person. Reservations available with your registration and payment by check payable to St. James Episcopal Church, PO Box 126, Baton Rouge LA 70821, Attn: Helen Campbell, or online.


Parade Parking Passes

Help fund the EYC Summer Mission Trip and get a great spot for the parade!

The Spanish Town Parade rolls at noon on Saturday, February 19. For $25, reserve a spot in one of the St. James parking lots for your vehicle (no RVs) at Fourth & Convention, where you can enjoy all the action.

The youth group will be selling passes in the Parish Hall parlor on Sunday mornings at 10:00 until February 11, or as long as space remains. To be sure you get a spot, you may go ahead and pay online here, and bring your receipt to the Youth Table in the parlor to retrieve your parking pass!
